Registers, renews and transfers your customers' domains through your Dynadot account, locks and unlocks them and hands customers their transfer code. Dynadot tells us what it charges you, not a price to sell at, so your prices are its cost plus your markup — converted with your own exchange rates and protected by the loss guard.

What you need

  • A Dynadot account with API access and account balance.
  • Its API key: in Dynadot under Tools → API. The sandbox has a key of its own — use it first.
  • An exchange rate for the currency your Dynadot account is billed in (usually USD) under Settings → Currencies, if your shop sells in another one.

Set it up

Add it first: under Admin → Products → Modules, open the Library tab and choose Add on Dynadot.

  1. Choose Configure on Dynadot. Add a connection: API mode (Sandbox while you try it, Live to register real domains), the API key and, optionally, default name servers. The key is stored encrypted and shown as ******** afterwards.
  2. Choose Test connection: it reads your Dynadot account details.
  3. Under Who does what, decide whether Dynadot's cost may price your TLDs, whether Dynadot or the public registry answers "is this domain free?", and whether customers may lock, unlock and fetch a transfer code.
  4. Choose Sync prices from Dynadot, then open Products → Domain prices: set your markup, rounding and margin floor, and — if you also use another registrar — which TLDs go to Dynadot.
  5. Choose Dynadot as the module of your domain product (or of single TLDs on Domain prices).

What it does for you

  • A paid domain order registers the domain at Dynadot with the customer as contact, and emails them that it is registered. Transfers start with the customer's auth code. An order that comes to €0 counts as paid the moment it is placed.
  • A transfer reads Transfer not started until Dynadot accepts it, then Transfer in progress, then Active.
  • Renewal invoices renew the domain at Dynadot when paid.
  • Prices follow Dynadot's cost on every sync. If a new price would sell below cost or your margin floor — or a currency has no exchange rate — the old price stays, the TLD is marked Held and you get an email.

On your public API

If you build your own portal on Teculiar's public API, it can read the transfer lock (GET /services/:id/actions/lock-state) and lock or unlock a domain (POST /services/:id/domain-actions/lock or unlock, an API key with domains:manage). An unlock returns the transfer code, so it only answers a secret (sk_) key with the customer's token.

When it is switched off

Domain orders are still billed, but nothing is registered, renewed or transferred at Dynadot: each waits for you on the domain's page. Prices stay as they were.
