Lets your customers pay invoices with PayPal, and saves their PayPal wallet so renewals can be charged automatically.

What you need

  • A PayPal Business account and a REST app from developer.paypal.com (a sandbox app for testing, a live app for real payments).
  • The app's Client ID and Client Secret.
  • For automatic renewals: vaulting ("Save payment methods") enabled on the app, separately for sandbox and live.

Set it up

Add it first: under Admin → Products → Modules, open the Library tab and choose Add on PayPal Payments. A tenant that used it before the Library existed has it added already.

  1. Go to Admin → Settings → Payment Gateways and open PayPal.
  2. Enter the Client ID and Client Secret. They are saved as the PayPal module's connection (also under Admin → Products → Modules → PayPal → Configure, with Test connection). The secret is stored encrypted and shown as ******** afterwards; save without retyping it to keep it.
  3. Choose the mode: test sends customers to PayPal's sandbox, live takes real money. Never leave a production shop on test.
  4. Tick the method on and save. Teculiar checks the credentials with PayPal as it saves.
  5. Make sure PayPal Payments is switched on under Admin → Products → Modules.

What it does for you

  • At checkout and on an invoice, the customer is sent to PayPal, approves, and comes back to a paid invoice.
  • The wallet is saved for renewals, so later invoices can be paid without the customer.

When it is switched off

PayPal disappears from checkout. A payment already started is not marked paid until PayPal confirms it — it waits for you as a parked payment — and saved wallets are not charged. Nothing is deleted; switching it back on resumes.

Before it goes off, Disable shows what it runs — services, domains, saved payment methods — and, for a payment module, the customers who renew through it, as a list you can download. Once it is off you can Remove it: its connections and their credentials, its server groups and its settings are deleted, and it goes back to the Library. Services, domains and products that name it stay, handled by hand. The rows under Payment gateways keep their names and switches, without the keys.
